The field of sports and exercise psychology is growing, and we are living in a sports-loving society, where the team and competitive sports are a big part of people’s lives. Not only does watching or participating in sports bring positive benefits to health and wellbeing, but it’s an important part of the national and global economy.

The sports industry contributes significantly in terms of spending and economic activity, and is currently worth £23.8 billion, providing over one million jobs in the UK.

However, in Asian Areas, Hong Kong for example, you get more exposure in the market, since no ones would spend such a amount of time and cannot see concreate result in the market. Unlike other mature profession like physio, to become sport psychologist, you need more skills (e.g., communication skills, research skills) more than finished the degree, and its not easy to promote sport psychology in media just the way physio does, because of the privacy and sensitive information issue. Overall, its a profession and worth to explore if you interested in sport science and psychology.

You can work in various fields, including business, military, healthcare, sport, exercise, performance, etc. To gain some placement experience, you MUST finish our Sport & Mind Trainer theory part first. Bear in mind, sport psychology or any psychology fields are totally different from other professions like physio, you cannot provide any intervention to people unless you finished all of your studies (so you understand the importance of counseling). Therefore, we would like you to equip yourself better before providing any services to clients.
